When Priorities Shift

Sandra Cleveland |

Throughout our lives, our priorities shift. As we mature, it becomes even more important to check in with ourselves every now and again. “So, what’s most important to me now?”

Then, it’s time to reorganize priorities around any changes.

Recently, I read several articles that propose that as we mature there are 3 things we typically shift toward.

  • Experiences
  • People
  • What we want to learn

The one thing we shift away from is accumulating things.

We invest our time, energy and financial resources into experiences with a community of like-minded people. Then, we seek out others who share our priorities. Ultimately, we surround ourselves with people who want to learn the things we want to know.

Priorities shift as we evaluate what matters most. And each turn enriches our lives as it displaces previous concerns.

Are You Stuck?

They say old habits die hard. And you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

But they’re wrong. Absolutely wrong.

  • What experiences are on your bucket list?
  • Who do you want to spend more time with?
  • What do you want to learn about?

Are you still doing the old stuff?
