My Journey to Joining the BCR Wealth Team

Leighton Lindstrom |

Hello! I’m Leighton Lindstrom, and I’m the newest Associate Advisor to the BCR® Wealth team. I say that with great excitement, and I want to tell you a little bit about how I ended up here.

To give you a little background, I’m originally from Huntsville, AL, I attended Auburn University, and I’ve been in the marketing field in Birmingham since I graduated from college.

One question I’ve answered a lot over the past few weeks is “How and why does one go from marketing to finance?” Let me start from the beginning, about five years ago.

I graduated from Auburn University in 2012 and began working in the communications department at Children’s Hospital of Alabama. It was an amazing place to work and I learned so much in those five years that I know helped prepare me for the work I will do at BCR. My interest in personal finance began at that time as I entered the real world and the workforce. I began to see how making smart financial decisions enabled me to get out of life what I most wanted, including peace of mind. I continued to spend my free time researching and learning as much as I could about personal finance. The more I learned, the more I loved it.

Fast forward to 2017 and not only did I still have the interest, I felt something drawing me to the financial planning field. The idea of helping families and individuals with something that had the power to shape their life was incredibly appealing to me. If I loved personal finance so much, why not turn that into a career and help others prepare for their future and achieve their life goals?

Once I decided to make the jump into the financial services field, joining BCR was any easy decision for me. There are a lot of great companies that do great work, but it’s not often you find a place that you feel is a perfect match for you, and I knew I had to take advantage of it.

BCR’s personalized approach to each client with an emphasis on listening and understanding was the exact vision I held. We both valued attentiveness, trust, and continual personal growth and development. Not only did we share the same vision and values, we shared the same passion for helping people succeed. It was just what I was looking for.

I’ve now spent my first few weeks at BCR and I can already tell I’ve made the right decision. I’m ecstatic to be serving on this team, and I look forward to what’s to come.

That’s my story, and I can’t wait to hear yours.
