Reflecting on My Internship Experience
During my 12 weeks with BCR Wealth Strategies, I have had the experience any student wanting to pursue a career in the financial industry would love to have. On my first day, I walked in not knowing much about financial planning; since then, I have received ample opportunities to learn and grow my knowledge of the industry. I truly got a comprehensive look at the financial industry during my time with BCR, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
While I have learned a great deal about financial planning, I have also learned a tremendous amount about how a successful company should function. BCR provides success to their clients through processes; this summer I was made part of each of those processes - from meeting with clients to the entire behind the scenes work that is accomplished every day. My opinion was encouraged when discussing ways that BCR could improve or move forward. They make all employees feel important and that their voice matters. I went to work every day knowing that my actions were going to impact not only clients but the entire company as well. It has been refreshing to work for a company that strives day in and out for their client’s success; they don’t just say their core values, they live them!
Most importantly, I was treated like a professional from day one. My experience was the exact opposite of the dreaded rumors you hear about making coffee runs or filing old paperwork – I was asked to do the same duties as full-time Associate Advisors that have worked for several years. I’m grateful to have been given a chance to work for a company that truly cares about their employees – even the measly intern!
Although I am heading back to Auburn to complete my last semester of undergraduate studies, I am pleased to announce that I will be returning to BCR at the beginning of the year! I have accepted a position as an Associate Advisor, and look forward to the continued opportunities presented to me through BCR.
Thank you to everyone at BCR Wealth Strategies for your unyielding kindness and willingness to teach an intern the ins and outs of the industry. Thank you for treating me as an equal and for giving me tools that will help me succeed in my final steps of schooling as well as my career.
