Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

At BCR, one of our core values is that we are “Independently Team Focused”. When I learned about this core value in my interview, I did not really think too much of it. I figured it was just another slogan. During my time at BCR, I have truly seen this core value demonstrated just about every single day. This core value is something that is engrained into each team member’s words, actions, and work performance. It is an extremely admirable quality that is exemplified each day in our workplace to one another, as well as our clients.

Although it is a bit of an oxymoron, “Independently Team Focused” is a value that shows how the collaboration, unity, and communication across a team can positively impact one’s own individual work for the benefit of our clients. As an example, BCR’s team meetings are very organized and structured. One element of a meeting is the IDS portion – Identify, Discuss, and Solve. The team will identify an issue, discuss it, and solve it. Usually, during ‘solve’, a ‘to-do’ will be assigned to a team member so they can complete the issue at hand. Even though it seems arbitrary, this dedication to an organized conversation shows that everyone has the same objective in mind – working to the best of our abilities to do the best for our clients.

Another example of this core value in action comes from the intentionality that every employee gives towards one another and our clients. Dropping into each other’s office to say hello, or even congratulating each other on achieving goals creates a wonderfully uplifting atmosphere. These words of encouragement keep us motivated and ultimately inspire us to continue working hard. On the client side, BCR team members are fantastic at truly wanting to help people succeed. When our clients reach their goals, BCR will celebrate with them and continue to encourage them.

Being at BCR has taught me the importance of working together to achieve a common goal. When you encourage and communicate with others, you are not only positively impacting them, but are impacting yourself and the people around you as well.
